ArrowBio Process

Oaktech Environmental is the owner of the patented ArrowBio Waste Treatment Process for the UK and Eire. Oaktech is positioned to deliver turnkey municipal and commercial waste treatment plants utilising the ArrowBio technology, and to train staff for the operation and maintenance of those plants.

The ArrowBio technology provides an environmentally friendly and cost effective waste treatment option. The process can help protect the environment by diverting a significant amount of waste away from landfill,  reduce carbon emissions, and can be amalgamated with other technologies to generate 'green' electricity.

ArrowBio is a water-based MBT-AD (Mechanical Biological Treatment- Anaerobic Digestion) facility for  treating unsorted solid waste. The process combines a unique hydro-mechanical sorting/ separating front end MRF, and a back end Anaerobic Digestion process. The water-based sorting/separation unit allows for recylates to be simultaneously separated into their different fractions and cleaned, thus maximising their resale potential. The back end Anaerobic Digestion process transforms the biodgradable waste fraction into a high methane content biogas that can be used to produce 'green' electricity, and a residual fibrous material that can be used as a soil improver.

At present, Oaktech is developing the UK's first ArrowBio plant at the Avondale Landfill in Falkirk, Scotland. Oaktech's sister company, Arrow Ecology operates an ArrowBio plant in Tel Aviv, Israel. Arrow Ecology has also completed construction on a commercial scale 90,000tpa ArrowBio plant in Sydney, Australia, in 2008.
